Keep Calm and Parent On!

Well, we did it! We completed week one of our 2 year old home-school curriculum. We even managed to survive week two of potty training ON TOP of that! So yes, we are going to clap for ourselves (parents you know what I'm talking about)!

As parents we are constantly looking for ideas to amuse our children, keep them busy, engaged and learning at the same time. If it keeps them away from TV, gaming systems or electronics it's even better! Well, I hear you and I am here to help... at least for the toddler parents. Don't worry I will eventually get to helping out parents of infants and preschoolers as well.

As a former early childhood educator I just LOVE making lesson plans and activities to engage and teach my son. Since I no longer get to teach other children, I figure sharing it with other moms is a great balance. The lesson plans I share are in no way meant to be the only means of education for your child. Think of them more as a supplement to the learning they already get from you or their current child care center. They are a tool for you to tip the score from the TV or game systems to education, fun and learning! They are meant to provide you with ideas, inspiration, motivation and a foundation for creating a fun, family learning experience.

Each week Stryder and I will work on the lesson plan I create for him. The following week I will share it with you and highlight some of the activities. Every child is different and so where Stryder is may not be where you child is. As I said, these lesson plans are meant to be a foundation. Take the activities, ideas and games and change them to fit your child's learning style or developmental level. If you need help doing this I will be more than happy to give you some ideas. If after doing any of our lesson plans you have ideas or suggestions I welcome them! Teaching and raising a child works best as a village, so come join ours! Without further ado, let's get this ball rolling shall we?

The downloads for the lesson plans will be available on the "downloads" section of our blog. I have also put a blank lesson plan up in case you want to make your own! Right now Stryder and I only do our home-school curriculum 3 days a week. You may be at a point to do it 5 days a week; go for it! Make it your own! So keep calm and parent on!
